Note: K2 Stone is named after K2 — the world's second-highest mountain (8,611 m) in the Karakoram Range on the Pakistan-China border, near where this stone is found. It is a trade name; the stone is a Granite with Azurite inclusions, not technically a Jasper.

Where It Is Found

K2 Stone is found exclusively in the foothills of the Karakoram mountain range in northern Pakistan, near the base of K2. Its remote, high-altitude source makes it one of the most geographically exclusive stones in the crystal market.

Mineral Class / Geology

K2 Stone is a combination of white Granite (coarse-grained igneous rock of Quartz, Feldspar, and Mica, hardness 6–7) and Azurite (copper carbonate hydroxide, Cu₃(CO₃)₂(OH)₂, hardness 3.5–4). The Azurite formed as a secondary mineral within the Granite — copper-bearing hydrothermal solutions deposited Azurite in rounded, spherical nodules within fractures in the ancient Karakoram Batholith Granite, creating the characteristic vivid blue spots.

Colors

K2 Stone displays a crisp white to light grey Granite base dramatically spotted with vivid sky-blue to deep blue circular Azurite inclusions. Occasionally green Malachite appears alongside the blue Azurite. Each palm stone is completely unique in its pattern of blue spots.
