Indigo Gabbro is a coarse-grained mafic igneous rock — a variety of Gabbro composed of a complex mixture of feldspar, pyroxene, chlorite, serpentine, muscovite, magnetite, and other accessory minerals. Its hardness varies from approximately 5–7 on the Mohs scale. Gabbro forms when mafic magma cools slowly deep within the Earth's crust. The distinctive indigo-blue coloring is caused by chlorite and other secondary minerals within the feldspar matrix.
