LARVIKITE POINT

Larvikite

This striking Larvikite Point channels the powerful grounding and inner vision energy of this spectacular Norwegian stone with focused precision — its dark grey to black surface shimmering with a blue-silver schiller that seems to glow from within, directing Larvikite's protective, visionary energy upward with clarity and intention.

Note: Larvikite is named after Larvik, Norway, its only significant source. Also known as Norwegian Moonstone or Blue Pearl Granite in the crystal market — though it is not technically a Moonstone.

Where It Is Found

Larvikite is found almost exclusively in the Larvik region of Vestfold county, Norway — in the Larvik Plutonic Complex, a UNESCO Global Geopark site that formed approximately 298 million years ago during the Permian period.

Mineral Class / Geology

Larvikite is an igneous rock (augite syenite / monzonite) composed primarily of large ternary feldspar crystals, with a hardness of approximately 6–6.5 on the Mohs scale. Its spectacular blue-silver schiller is caused by thin-film interference within the layered feldspar crystal structure — the same optical phenomenon as Moonstone's adularescence and Labradorite's labradorescence.

Colors

Larvikite displays a dark grey to black base with a spectacular blue to silver schiller that shifts as the viewing angle changes. The point form showcases this optical effect dramatically across its polished faces.

Metaphysical Properties

Larvikite is known as the Stone of Inner Vision, Grounding, and Psychic Protection. It resonates with the Root and Third Eye Chakras and is used to provide powerful grounding and protection, enhance psychic abilities and inner vision, support deep inner work and self-reflection, cancel negative energies, connect with nature spirits and the elemental world, and bring calm, grounded inner strength. As a point, it focuses these energies with precision.
