Where It Is Found
Aragonite is found worldwide. Notable sources of the brown to earthy-toned Aragonite used in the crystal market include Morocco, Spain (where it was first described and named after the Aragon region), Namibia, Pakistan, China, and the United States.
Mineral Class / Geology
Aragonite is a calcium carbonate mineral (CaCO₃) belonging to the Carbonate mineral class, with a hardness of 3.5–4 on the Mohs scale. It is a polymorph of Calcite — same chemical formula (CaCO₃) but a different crystal structure (orthorhombic vs. Calcite's trigonal). It forms in hydrothermal veins, hot springs, cave deposits, and marine environments, and is the primary mineral component of mollusk shells, coral, and pearls. The brown color is caused by iron oxide and other mineral impurities.
Colors
Brown Aragonite displays warm earthy tones of tan, caramel, rust brown, and cream with a vitreous to resinous luster. In sphere form, the polished surface showcases the stone's warm, grounding palette from every angle.
Metaphysical Properties
Aragonite is known as the Stone of Patience, Grounding, and Earth Healing. It resonates with the Root and Earth Star Chakras and is used to provide deep grounding and connection to the Earth, cultivate patience, reliability, and emotional stability, support those who feel scattered, anxious, or overwhelmed, enhance concentration and the ability to focus on the present moment, connect with the healing energy of the Earth and support environmental awareness, and stabilize the base chakras during times of stress or spiritual growth. As a sphere, it radiates these grounding energies equally in all directions throughout your space.
