Where It Is Found

Rose Quartz is found worldwide, with major sources in Brazil (the largest producer), Madagascar, India, South Africa, and the United States. Some of the finest specimens with the deepest pink color come from Brazil and Madagascar.

Mineral Class / Geology

Rose Quartz is a variety of Quartz (silicon dioxide, SiO₂) and belongs to the Tectosilicate mineral class. Its hardness is 7 on the Mohs scale. Its soft pink color is caused by trace amounts of titanium, iron, or manganese within the crystal structure. Unlike most Quartz varieties, Rose Quartz rarely forms well-defined crystals and is typically found in massive form.

Colors

Rose Quartz ranges from very pale, almost white pink to a deeper, more saturated rose pink. It is typically translucent to opaque with a soft, milky quality. Some specimens display a rare optical phenomenon called asterism — a star-like reflection — when cut as a cabochon.
