Where It Is Found

Amazonite is found in several locations worldwide, with major sources in Russia (Ural Mountains), Brazil, United States (Colorado's Pikes Peak region), Madagascar, Ethiopia, and Peru.

Mineral Class / Geology

Amazonite is a variety of Microcline Feldspar (KAlSi₃O₈) in the Tectosilicate mineral class, with a hardness of 6–6.5 on the Mohs scale. It forms in granitic pegmatites. Its blue-green color is caused by lead and water within the Microcline crystal structure, and the characteristic white streaks are Albite Feldspar exsolution lamellae. The broad, polished surface of a palm stone beautifully showcases these fresh tones and white streaks.
