SCOLECITE TUMBLE

Scolecite

This beautiful Scolecite Tumble is one of the most profoundly peaceful and spiritually elevating stones in the crystal world — its soft white to pale peach color and deeply calming, high-vibrational energy of inner peace, dream work, and spiritual connection make it an exceptional companion for meditation, sleep, and anyone seeking to access higher states of consciousness with gentleness and grace.

Note: Scolecite is a member of the Zeolite mineral group — a family of hydrated aluminosilicate minerals that form in volcanic rocks. It is closely related to Stilbite and Apophyllite and is most commonly found in the famous zeolite deposits of India's Deccan Traps. In its natural crystal form, Scolecite grows as delicate, silky white needle-like crystals — often in radiating sprays or interlocking masses.

Where It Is Found

Scolecite is found in several locations worldwide, with the most spectacular deposits in India — particularly the Deccan Traps of Maharashtra state (Pune district, Nashik, and Aurangabad regions), which produce the world's finest Scolecite specimens alongside Stilbite, Apophyllite, and other zeolites. The Deccan Traps formed from massive lava flows approximately 66 million years ago. Other sources include Iceland, Scotland, the Faroe Islands, and the United States.

Mineral Class / Geology

Scolecite is a hydrated calcium aluminosilicate (CaAl₂Si₃O₁₀·3H₂O) belonging to the Zeolite group within the Tectosilicate mineral class, with a hardness of 5–5.5 on the Mohs scale. Like all zeolites, it forms in the cavities and vesicles of ancient basaltic lava flows, where low-temperature hydrothermal fluids slowly deposit minerals over millions of years. Scolecite's name comes from the Greek skolex, meaning "worm" — a reference to the way Scolecite crystals curl and twist when heated (a property called intumescence). Its characteristic crystal habit is delicate, silky, needle-like (acicular) crystals — often growing in radiating sprays, interlocking masses, or fan-like clusters. Like Stilbite, Scolecite contains water within its crystal structure, which is released when heated. Scolecite is closely related to Natrolite and Mesolite — all three are calcium/sodium aluminosilicate zeolites that frequently occur together.

Colors

Scolecite is typically white to colorless, occasionally with very pale peach or pink tones. It has a silky to vitreous luster and is translucent to transparent. Tumbled Scolecite has a smooth, soft surface that reveals its gentle, luminous white tones.

Metaphysical Properties

Scolecite is known as the Stone of Inner Peace, Dream Work, and Spiritual Awakening. It is considered one of the most powerful stones for accessing deep states of inner peace, enhancing dream recall and lucid dreaming, and facilitating gentle, high-vibrational spiritual connection. It resonates with the Third Eye and Crown Chakras and is used to induce deep states of inner peace and stillness, enhance dream recall, lucid dreaming, and astral travel, facilitate gentle spiritual awakening and the expansion of consciousness, support deep, restful sleep, enhance meditation and access to higher states of awareness, connect with angelic and higher-dimensional energies, and bring a profound sense of calm, clarity, and spiritual elevation.
