GOLDEN TIGER EYE TUMBLE

Golden Tiger Eye

This stunning Golden Tiger Eye Tumble is one of the most captivating stones in the crystal world — its silky, golden-brown bands shimmer with a mesmerizing chatoyancy (cat's eye effect) that seems to move and glow from within, making it as beautiful to look at as it is powerful to work with.

Where It Is Found

Tiger Eye is found in several locations worldwide, with major sources in South Africa (the world's primary commercial source), Australia, India, Burma, and the United States. South Africa's Northern Cape province produces the finest and most abundant Tiger Eye specimens available in the crystal market.

Mineral Class / Geology

Tiger Eye is a variety of Quartz (silicon dioxide, SiO₂) in the Tectosilicate mineral class, with a hardness of 6.5–7 on the Mohs scale. It forms through a fascinating geological process called pseudomorphism — where Quartz gradually replaces the fibrous mineral Crocidolite (blue asbestos) while preserving its parallel fibrous structure. This fibrous structure, combined with the reflective properties of Quartz, creates the distinctive chatoyancy (cat's eye shimmer) that Tiger Eye is famous for. The golden-brown color is caused by iron oxide within the fibrous structure.

Colors

Golden Tiger Eye displays rich, warm bands of golden yellow, honey brown, and dark brown — all shimmering with a silky, moving chatoyancy that shifts and glows as the stone is rotated in light. The interplay of light and shadow across its fibrous bands creates a hypnotic, three-dimensional depth.

Metaphysical Properties

It is used to boost self-confidence and personal power, enhance courage and determination, provide grounding and practical wisdom, support clear decision-making and discernment, attract good luck and prosperity, and balance the emotional body — helping one act from a place of strength rather than fear.
