AMAZONITE TEAR DROP TUMBLE

Amazonite

This beautiful Amazonite Tear Drop Tumble showcases the fresh, soothing blue-green of one of the crystal world's most beloved stones in an elegant teardrop form — its calming, truth-enhancing energy and distinctive color make it an exceptional companion for anyone seeking to communicate with clarity, courage, and compassion.

Note: Despite its name, Amazonite is not found in the Amazon River region — the name is believed to have originated from a historical confusion or from green stones brought from the Amazon region that were mistakenly identified as this mineral. True Amazonite has never been found in the Amazon basin. It is also known as Amazon Stone or Amazon Jade (though it is not related to Jade).

Where It Is Found

Amazonite is found in several locations worldwide, with major sources in Russia (the Ilmen Mountains of the Ural region, one of the oldest known sources), Brazil, United States (Colorado, Virginia — particularly the Pikes Peak region of Colorado, which produces exceptional Amazonite specimens), Madagascar, Ethiopia, and Peru. Colorado's Pikes Peak region is particularly famous for producing large, vivid blue-green Amazonite crystals associated with Smoky Quartz.

Mineral Class / Geology

Amazonite is a variety of Microcline Feldspar (potassium aluminum silicate, KAlSi₃O₈) belonging to the Tectosilicate mineral class, with a hardness of 6–6.5 on the Mohs scale. It is a member of the Feldspar group — the most abundant mineral group in the Earth's crust. Amazonite forms primarily in granitic pegmatites and in some metamorphic rocks. Its distinctive blue-green color was long debated by mineralogists — it was historically attributed to copper, but modern research has established that the color is caused by lead and water within the Microcline crystal structure, not copper. The color ranges from pale mint green to vivid teal-blue depending on the concentration of lead and the specific geological conditions of formation. Amazonite displays a characteristic grid-like pattern of white Albite Feldspar exsolution lamellae within the blue-green Microcline — creating the distinctive mottled or streaked white-and-green pattern visible in many specimens.

Colors

Amazonite displays a fresh, distinctive blue-green to teal color — from pale mint and seafoam green to vivid turquoise-blue — often with characteristic white streaks or patches of Albite Feldspar. The teardrop form beautifully showcases these fresh, soothing tones.

Metaphysical Properties

Amazonite is known as the Stone of Truth, Courage, and Calm Communication. It is sometimes called the "Stone of Hope" for its ability to soothe anxiety, dispel negativity, and open the heart and throat to authentic, courageous expression. It resonates with the Throat and Heart Chakras and is used to enhance authentic self-expression and the courage to speak one's truth, soothe anxiety, worry, and emotional trauma, dispel negative energy and aggravation, open the heart to trust and compassion, enhance communication in relationships, support the setting of healthy boundaries, and bring a sense of calm, hopeful clarity and emotional balance.
